⚡️ Challenge: Create a simple mobile app for daily use from scratch
Approach
Through the Design Thinking approach, I sought to understand the needs of the target user and balance those with the company's objectives and technological capabilities
Research
During the research stage, I were screening the market with the competitors. I tried to maintain business goals with user needs
Research Goals
-
What are the current product goals?
-
Understand what prevents users from practicing regularly
-
Understand how long users use competing applications
-
Understand what exactly they are looking for in sports apps
-
Also, figure out what users are most annoyed by in competing applications
Competitive Analysis
A competitive analysis was performed to understand the strengths, weaknesses, similarities, and differences between competitor fitness apps in the industry
User Interviews
To better understand the perspective of the target user, I interviewed 13 people
🎯 Conclusions:
-
Too long and difficult workouts for users
-
People want to have more personalised results in the apps
-
Many workouts are of the same type and non-enticing
-
Lots of apps with a difficult-to-use timer
-
Apps with real trainers are more wanted
Information
Architecture
Next, I created a site map for Fitty that outlined the app’s navigation and information hierarchy

Wireframes
After wireframes, I made a prototype which helped me to test the application and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the product. Once this was complete, I started creating digital wireframes for the main screens in Sketch

Visual Design
After updating my wireframes to incorporate the recommendations, I moved on to visual design. Until this point, my prototype lacked a color scheme, typography, and brand identity. The idea was to find bright and "active" colors to motivate users to work out 💪
Also, I worked on illustration and store screens with the marketing team. There were hundreds of variations we tested before implementing.
Summary
After many rounds of reviews and iterations, I came up with an app designed with a sense of clarity and purpose. The application features that is intuitive and functional, easy and pleasant to use.
I had an amazing experience working with marketing, analytics, and dev teams. This project allowed me to practice critical thinking, attention to detail, and my art skills.
