⚡️ Challenge: Create a mobile app for an existing desktop service
The product already had a mobile version and the number of new users was constantly growing. However, because of the poor quality of the application, the CS team was overwhelmed with user complaints, NPS was going down and retention rates were lower than expected.
Research
and analysis
Gather information from the business
-
What are the current product goals?
-
What is the product strategy?
-
Who are the major competitors?
-
What are the main features of his product?
Product analysis
-
Gather data from CS team and analyst
-
Survey of users ( What do they like or hate about the product? )
-
Survey of new users ( Their opinion and feedback about the product)
-
Survey of users who were using competing applications (What do they like or hate about that products?)

Users needs
🎯 Main problems:
-
Users can't find a massage button
-
Unable to filter messages
-
Photo-gallery is too small
-
Photos without cropping function
From my perspective, the interface was overloaded. Too many colours, buttons, the whole interface had no components hierarchy plus some features didn't have a responsive design.
Once the analysis was complete I had meetings with the team where we discussed what features we were to implement to balance all user and business objectives, and prioritized them.
💡 Solutions:
-
Create a new chat
-
Add a fast-message button on a profile page
-
Menu with Premium buttons
-
Improve the gallery
Wireframes & user flow
After creating the user flow and wireframes, I made a low-fi prototype that helped me test the application and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the product. Once this was complete, I started creating digital wireframes for the main screens in Sketch.

Visual design
After updating my wireframes to incorporate the recommendations, I moved on to visual design. My main goal was to make the application for daily use and also to achieve a visual balance in color, form, and typography.
The color scheme I chose is the most preferred color for men and women according to Kissmetrics.
In the form, I had been looking for a balance of solid forms but with soft accents, emphasizing ease and friendliness.
Typography also has a more organic interpretation of the geometric style.

Learnings & Takeaways
Eventually, I came up with a design that has a sense of clarity and accessible navigation that allows users to jump between screens efficiently. App downloads surpassed the desktop version. Solving the main problems of the user made it possible to have a significant positive impact on retention.
This project follows the best decisions for business and has friendly and valuable visual choices. It was a tremendous growth experience to pitch and present my designs to numerous reviews and find the best ideas for users and businesses.

Function
A navigation always placed in a tap bar, which allows users quickly navigate through the application
